It’s far from uncommon to see Chinese children adopted and raised in the United States. In fact, American families adopt from China more often than any other country in the world. Each adoption case is undoubtedly different, with its own intricacies and complexities, and many adopted children may never see their biological parents. This was not the case for Kati Pohler, a Chinese girl adopted by American parents, who has an incredible story of how she was reunited with her birth parents. Growing up in Michigan, Kati waited 22 years to find out the details about how she came to be adopted. The one child policy implemented by China at the time meant that when Kati’s mother fell pregnant with her, she would be subject to legal punishment. Kati’s mother kept a low profile and attempted to have the birth away from any medical professionals who could potentially report her to officials. Complications forced them to seek the help of a physician, who promised to keep quiet. Hoping that their child may still have a good life, the couple repeatedly dropped her off at a local market with a note asking a willing family to take her in. The note included the wish of her birth parents to meet with their child again in 10 or 20 years time on the broken bridge.
Kati’s parents didn’t want to burden her with details of her past and decided against telling her too much. However, her adoptive parents didn’t disregard her old life, and eventually asked a friend to go visit the bridge and give Kati’s parents a letter informing them all about their daughter and her current life. This letter eventually reached them as intended and during the exchange, a Chinese documentary filmmaker caught wind of the story and wanted to help out. The documentarian tracked down both Kati’s birth and adoptive parents, eventually creating a documentary about the unbelievable story. As a result, Kati was finally able to reunite with her family in the same market where her parents had left her all those years ago.

Texan Mum's Choice of Bee-Covered Maternity Shoot
Over the last few years, maternity photoshoots and gender reveal parties have exploded on the scene with each new event outdoing the other. There is no doubt that people have been going beyond in choosing unique themes that certainly make an impression, for better or worse. And Emily Mueller, from Boerne, Texas certainly made headlines with her choice of shoot. Hoping to shock her friends, Emily Mueller decided bees were the theme she wanted to go with. She was pregnant with her fourth child when she decided on this outlandish theme. Who knows what she chose for the other three?
To be fair, she is a honey farmer and a beekeeper so she was already pretty experienced with bees. With over 20,000 bees, she realized she had a great chance to celebrate her photoshoot as a beekeeper. So the decision was made: She was going to cover herself with bees! According to close sources, she took several precautionary measures before the shoot. She knew that the bees would leave the hive and follow the queen. So, she captured and took the queen to a small cage. Then, she had to ensure she didn't get stung. For this, she made sure the bees were well fed, which meant they wouldn’t sting. After all the measures were done, she posed for the photos with the queen bee in a cage. Her husband opened the bee cage and they flocked to the queen. The shocked photographer later described it as a once-in-a-lifetime event. The pictures were posted on Facebook and drew strong reactions from many people, both positive and negative. Since Emily Mueller had a bee allergy, many wondered how wise it was to follow through with this when pregnant as she was putting her unborn child through unnecessary risks.
